City Council is the chief legislative body of municipalities and has been a feature of city government for decades. Dauphin’s beauty, safe streets and thriving economy are a tribute to the hard work and dedication of past and present council members.
An elected council of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and five councilors governs the City of Dauphin. Council meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
The City of Dauphin Regular Council Meetings for the Year 2010 are scheduled as follows:
- January 11th and 25th
- February 8th and 22nd
- March 8th and 22nd
- April 12th and 26th
- May 10th and 17th
- June 7th and 21st
- July 12th
- August 16th
- September 13th and 27th
- October 4th and 18th
- November 15th and 29th
- December 13th
As per City By-law 26/2002, any delegation wishing to present before Council must:
- submit to the Chief Administrative Officer's attention at least five (5) days prior to a Council meeting, a letter in writing stating the topic and scope of the presentation.
- there shall not be a limit to the number of delegations included on the agenda of a Council Meeting, but the Chief Administrative Officer is granted authority to schedule delegations as deemed appropriate.
- the Chair may limit the time taken by a delegation to 15 minutes.
- the Delegation must appoint a spokesperson.
- after the delegation presents, the Chair asks Council if they have any questions or require any clarification of the presenter.
