Paint the Town Red! (Dauphin)
The Olympics start on February 12th and Dauphin can be a part of it! The Canadian Olympic Committee is inviting all communities across Canada to Paint the Town Red in celebration of the Vancouver Olympic Games and Canada's National Team athletes. It is the strongest Olympic team that Canada has ever assembled and to help them get to the podium they need every Canadian to play a part!
It is simple...anything you can think of that is red, or Olympic, or Canadian fits the bill. Be creative, be involved, have FUN, and celebrate the Olympic spirit!
Be creative:
- have a cheer-off
- drape your windows with red streamers, hang red Christmas lights or balloons
- wear red from head to toe or paint your face red or with a maple leaf
- hang a Canadian flag anywhere you can
- bake red cookies
- build a red snowman
- host a 'red' party while you watch the Opening Ceremonies
- issue a challenge to another school or business
The opportunity for Canada to host the world only comes along once or twice in a lifetime, so don't miss your chance to a part of the excitement and thrill of the Games! The Dauphin Kings will kick off the celebrations at their home on Feb. 9: they will be wearing red, too, so be sure to bring your Canada flags and horns, and wear red to the game!
A list of Dauphin's activities will be sent to the Canadian Olympic Committee so registor your ideas (and pictures after the event) with tourism@dauphin.ca! Let's share our community spirit with Canada!
The Olympic Games begin with the opening ceremonies on February 12th, and we want Dauphin to get in on the fun! Wear red or maple leaves from head to toe, put up red Christmas lights at work, paint your face with a maple leaf, challenge your co-workers and classmates to come up with a "Go Canada" cheer...the possibilities are endless. Be creative - if it's red or Olympic-themed you are ready to go!
For more ideas click on the link to the Paint the Town Red website and download the handbook.
