City of Dauphin Commemorates 50 Years of CNUF with Gift of Bronze Statue

This past weekend marked 49 years of Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin, Manitoba. At Friday evenings opening ceremonies, Mayor Eric Irwin announced the City of Dauphin’s commemorative gift – a bronze monument called, “The Young Pioneers”, which will be ready for the 50th anniversary, in 2015.  The statue is a young Ukrainian pioneer couple holding bread and a bible, looking to the future with optimism. The statue will be one in a planned series of historic statues to be placed in key locations throughout the community, celebrating the rich culture and history of Dauphin.
