Dauphin wins Class of Champions Category at National Communities in Bloom Awards

This past weekend, Councillor Eilers and representatives, Marie Sorlie and Marg Wasylyshen from the Dauphin Communities in Bloom Committee were on hand in PEI to accept the award for Class of Champions (small) category. Dauphin received a 5 Bloom rating and a special mention for Revitalization West Dauphin during the 2014 National Symposium and Awards Ceremonies in Charlottetown, PEI. The City of Dauphin competed against Appleton NL, Millet AB, Southwest Middlesex ON, Sussex NB, Tignish PE, and Vermilion AB.

In July, volunteer judges Roger Younker and Alex Pearl visited Dauphin to evaluate the overall contributions of municipal council and departments; industry; businesses and the private sector – including volunteer efforts – in regards to the following criteria: Tidiness, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Urban Forestry, Landscape and Floral Displays.
