Today the Minister of Health, Seniors and Active Living, the Honourable Kelvin Goertzen, announced that a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine would be purchased by the Province of Manitoba and installed at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre. The construction of the new building to house the MRI machine was completed earlier this year, at the same time as a previously announced Provincial Wait Times Task Force study was underway. The completion and release of the study paved the way for the Government of Manitoba to announce the purchase and placement of the MRI machine in Dauphin.
This is truly great news for Dauphin and the entire region, and the culmination of significant lobbying efforts by local MLA Brad Michaleski, Dauphin City Council and the Dauphin Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. The City wishes to thank MLA Michaleski for all his work in making this important decision a reality, at the same time as extending its sincere gratitude to Premier Pallister and Minister Goertzen on this important decision for the Prairie Mountain Health region.
