Main Street South Reconstruction

Project Information

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure and the City of Dauphin have partnered to reconstruct PTH 5A/10A/Main Street South from Triangle Road to Whitmore Avenue. Work will begin in the Fall of 2023 and is expected to continue until August 2024.

The project consists of the following activities:

  • Intersection Improvements
  • Traffic Signals
  • Grade Widening
  • Service Road Construction
  • Pavement Reconstruction
  • Culvert Installations
  • Access Removals
  • Sidewalks
  • Storm Sewer Construction
  • Retention Pond Construction


Updates

April 11, 2024

Beginning Tuesday, April 16, 2024, reconstruction of the
existing east service road is set to begin. During the next 
few weeks, the east service road will be closed to all traffic 
in sections to complete the required work. Access to all 
businesses will be maintained, however, detours are 
expected to be required. All drivers should be aware that 
flagpersons may be present, at times. Please follow all 
signage and be aware of construction workers during this 
time.

February 6, 2024

Beginning Wednesday, February 7, 2024, PTH 5A/10A/Main
Street South will be closed to all traffic immediately north of the access to Tim Hortons to complete the installation of the land drainage sewer piping being installed through the roadway. All-through traffic will be detoured onto the East Service Road. Existing accesses to all businesses will remain open, however, detours may be required to gain access.

Please follow all signage and be aware of construction workers during this time. 

This closure is anticipated to be in place until Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Additionally, Manitoba Hydro crews will begin work in the area this week to relocate the existing gas main. 

Construction activities are expected to continue until mid-August 2024.

January 10, 2024

Activity along the PTH 5A/10A/Main Street South corridor has slowed for a few weeks while Manitoba Hydro is coordinating the required gas main relocation, however, work on the retention ponds is continuing to progress well. 

Beginning the week of January 15, 2024, residents in Dauphin’s SE quadrant may see increased truck traffic on 2nd Street SE and 3rd Street SE, as Russell Redi-Mix Concrete is hauling material to be used for the construction of the Maamawi Park Accessible Toboggan Hill. 

Construction activities are expected to last until mid-August 2024.

November 16, 2023

Culvert Site 1

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure and the City of Dauphin want to notify residents that Russell Redi-Mix Concrete will begin work installing new culverts through PTH 5A/10A/Main Street South beginning Saturday, November 18, 2023. Work will begin on Culvert Site 2 and will be followed by Culvert Site 1. Construction signage, detours, and flag persons will be present during construction. Please use caution when travelling through the construction areas. 

Construction activities are expected to last until mid-August 2024.
