To vote in the 2026 City of Dauphin Municipal Election, you must meet the voter eligibility requirements and provide acceptable identification when voting.
Voter Eligibility
To be eligible to vote for Mayor and Councillors in the City of Dauphin, you must be:
- a Canadian citizen;
- 18 years of age or older on Election Day; and
- an actual resident or property owner in the City of Dauphin for a period of at least six months before Election Day.
Residency
The following determines the residency of a voter:
- A voter is a resident of the place where they have their ordinary residence, and to which they intend to return when away from it.
- A voter may be a resident of only one place at a time.
- A voter’s residence does not change until they establish a new residence elsewhere.
A person who leaves the municipality for temporary reasons is still considered a resident voter. For example, a student attending university or college outside the municipality, but who intends to return home after the term ends, is considered a resident voter.
A voter may vote only once in the same election, regardless of whether they own multiple properties.

Identification Requirements
The City of Dauphin requires every voter to provide proof of their name and current address by showing identification.
There are two options:
Option 1
Show one original piece of identification with your photo, name, and current address. It must be issued by a government agency
Examples include:
- A valid Driver’s Licence;
- Enhanced Identification Card; or
- Any other card issued by a government agency with your photo, name, and current address.
Option 2
Show two original pieces of authorized identification that together provide evidence of your name and current address. Both must have your name, and at least one must have your current address.
A combination of the following examples would be sufficient:
- Voter’s Notice
- Manitoba Health Services card
- Manitoba Blue Cross card
- A blank personalized cheque
- A credit card statement
- An Old Age Pension/Security card
- An income tax assessment statement
- A utility bill
- Canadian passport
- Birth Certificate
- Indian Status Card
- Band Membership Card
- Métis Card
- Card issued by an Inuit local authority
